Samsung 3D TVs

The South Korean tech giant Samsung is a leader in the 3D TV market and currently the major vendor of LED 3D TVs in the United States, and this has been where they are focusing their marketing efforts, pricing some as low as $1,099 in pre-Christmas deals.  These 3D TVs are particularly noted for their beautiful styling and being “super slim,” and have received many positive reviews for their technical superiority. Samsung’s most popular model is the UN-46C700, which retails at about $2,599.

Samsung also produces plasma 3D TVs, with their most popular plasma model being the Samsung PS50C6900.

Samsung boasts creating the largest ever 3D TV – coming in at a whopping 70 inches and a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels.  These televisions should be marketed next year (2011). However, the price is as yet unknown.

Samsung is committed to developing 3D technology and has also entered into a partnership with Dreamworks Animation. 3D versions of the Shrek movies should be available for Samsung 3D TVs soon, with more titles to follow.

Samsung also offers a range of 3D Blu-Ray Player that retail from $229 to $399. There are discussed in more detail here.

Samsung has also been an innovator with 3D glasses – and is the first to offer prescription 3D glasses.

Samsung is also working on a new type of technology for 3D TVs – one’s using OLEDs, or Organic Light Emitting Diodes (Samsung is already the world’s larged OLED manufacturer). This would allow the creation of TVs that fold, but still can be viewed in 3D.
